Enthusiasts from all over Italy
The Ordinary National Assembly of the Padule di Fucecchio took place on Saturday 17 May at the Visitor Centre in Larciano (PT).ACMA (Associazione Cacciatori Migratori Acquatici), a sector of the Italian Hunting Federation dedicated to the protection and promotion of waterfowl hunting. The event was attended by numerous enthusiasts from all over Italy, confirming itself as a moment of discussion and updating of great importance for the hunting world. After having fulfilled the statutory obligations, the Provincial President of Pistoia, Franco Biagini, extended a cordial greeting to those present, expressing heartfelt thanks to Giuliano Incerpi, tireless coordinator of the numerous activities promoted by the Padule Visitor Center. Recalling that these activities, managed by Federcaccia-UCT of Larciano with the valuable contribution of about 40 volunteers, continue to be carried out with great commitment and dedication, exalting the figure of local hunters as virtuous, attentive and caring managers of the extraordinary wildlife-environmental and historical heritage of the Padule.
Sustainable management
The meeting was opened by the National Vice President of Federcaccia, Marco Salvadori, who extended a heartfelt greeting to those present – bringing greetings from the National President Buconi and the head of the FIdC sectors Oscar Stella – underlining the importance of occasions like this to reflect on the active and conscious role of hunters in the sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems. Also present in the room was Mario Basile, National Presidency Advisor, demonstrating the great attention that the Federation pays to the sectors and to this particular form of hunting. During the meeting, the numerous research and promotion initiatives carried out at a national level by ACMA were presented, always with the support of the Federcaccia Studies and Research Office, for the enhancement and defense of waterfowl hunting.
Collection of wings
From satellite telemetry to wing collection, from ringing of aquatic migratory species for monitoring purposes to safeguarding the territory through targeted environmental interventions, these are just some of the areas of work that involve researchers and technicians alongside numerous volunteers, recalled in the various speeches of ACMA President Gabriele Fasoli, Secretary Marco Fasoli and Councilor Alfonso Lenzoni. Finally, the report by Michele Sorrenti, scientific director of the Wildlife and Agro-Environmental Studies and Research Office of Federcaccia Nazionale, who offered an update on regulatory developments, both nationally and internationally, concerning in particular the hunting of aquatic migratory game. Recalling - in his speech - also how the data collected by Federcaccia's research have often been used in TAR rulings, to defend times and species that are the subject of appeals in regional hunting calendars.
The choice of the Padule
The choice of the Padule di Fucecchio as the venue for the assembly had a strong symbolic value: this environment represents a concrete example of integrated hunting management with environmental protection, where hunters are an active part in safeguarding a natural heritage of extraordinary importance. Federcaccia Toscana–UCT expresses satisfaction with the success of the event and renews its invitation to all hunters to continue to be aware protagonists in the management and protection of aquatic environments, through the commitment, knowledge and passion that have always distinguished them.
