Bad weather didn't stop hunters
The weather wasn't the best, but hunters, volunteers, and citizens gathered from early morning to take care of the Aniene Valley. T-shirts from the UNA Foundation – Uomo Natura Ambiente, which supports and guides us in protecting the territory, gloves, and boots: these were the participants in the Ecological Day organized by the FIdC Section of Agosta They cleaned paths, green spaces, and roads in the municipalities of Canterano and Rocca Canterano, in the province of Rome. This is the second Ecological Day organized by the chapter, following the one held last April 19th in Agosta. Two events in just a few weeks, with one goal: to keep the Aniene Valley clean and vibrant, one piece at a time.
A single will
The initiative, carried out in collaboration with the municipal administrations of Canterano and Rocca Canterano, involved dozens of people united by the desire to leave the area better than they found it.We thank the municipal administrations for their support and concrete collaboration." declared the President of the FIdC Section of Agosta, Azzurra Rosati. "These days confirm a simple fact: the hunter is an integral and active part of the territory. And those who live in the forest every day, those who know the tracks, the passages, the critical points. Without this daily presence in Nature, much damage and abandonment would go unnoticed.".
Elevating the figure of the hunter
The hunter's role goes beyond hunting: it involves monitoring, prevention, and intervention. We're the first to report illegal dumping, waste along trails, and environmental issues. Hunters are champions of the land and guardians of biodiversity. We can't accept that those who love and protect the environment are portrayed differently."Thanks also go to Federcaccia Nazionale, which raises awareness and trains its members to elevate the role of the hunter through concrete environmental restoration projects like this one. It is thanks to this widespread commitment that the hunting world demonstrates its contribution to the conservation and protection of the territory every day. Among bags full of plastic, bottles, cans, and abandoned waste, the work was continuous throughout the morning.""It's sad to still find all sorts of things along the trails and in the areas where the animals live," commented one of the hunters present. "But every year we see that there is more attention. The road is long, but we must continue."".
A healthier and safer environment
A commitment that looks to the future: cleaning today means protecting habitats, safeguarding wildlife, and handing down a healthier and safer environment to future generations. The FIdC Agosta chapter thanks all the hunters who participated, the municipal administrations of Canterano and Rocca Canterano, the residents who responded to the call, and the LC Cafè in Canterano for the kindness and warmth with which it welcomed the volunteers. And we're not stopping there: we have other activities planned in the area for 2026.
