Faunal control
The Basilicata Region welcomes the statement from the Special Commissioner for African Swine Fever, Dr. Giovanni Filippini, who expressed a favorable opinion regarding the request for an exemption to allow hunting activities in the restricted areas (ZRI) of the province of Potenza. This exemption also allows wildlife control activities in all forms, without limits on the number of operators and assistants, in compliance with the biosecurity measures established by Ordinance 3/2025.
Constant commitment and collaboration
"This decision," emphasized Carmine Cicala, Councilor for Agricultural, Food, and Forestry Policies, "represents an important step in managing the emergency and supporting the hunting and agricultural sectors. I thank the Minister of Agricultural, Food, and Forestry Policies, Francesco Lollobrigida, and the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, for their commitment and ongoing collaboration with Basilicata and the hunting sector. Heartfelt thanks also go to the Directorate General for Health and Councilor Cosimo Latronico. Without the collaborative efforts of the Government and Commissioner Filippini, this result would not have been possible."
The role of XCaccia
The contribution of the XCaccia app and the regional IT monitoring system is particularly important. "Thanks to innovative technological tools like XCaccia," adds Cicala, "we can accurately and reliably monitor the situation at the local and regional levels, providing reliable data that strengthens the decision-making capacity of institutions and ensures greater certainty in containment efforts." The councilor also reiterates the Basilicata Region's commitment to working closely with all stakeholders: "We are working and will continue to collaborate with commitment, professionalism, and responsibility, sharing decisions with hunting associations."
