Protection of the territory
"The resolutions approved in the past few hours by the Regional Council confirm a vision that combines land protection, sustainable management of natural resources, strengthening skills, and Basilicata's openness to new national and international relations. These decisions directly affect the future of our communities, inland areas, and the regional agricultural and forestry system." This was stated by Carmine Cicala, Councilor for Agricultural, Food, and Forestry Policies of the Basilicata Region, following the measures approved by the Regional Council at the instigation of the Department of Agricultural Policies.
Traditions linked to the hunting world
Among the main approved documents is the new 2026/2027 Regional Hunting Calendar, developed in compliance with national and European regulations and based on the opinions of ISPRA (the Italian Institute for Environmental Protection) and the National Wildlife Hunting Technical Committee. The calendar defines hunting periods, huntable species, hunting days, bag limits, dog training procedures, and the use of hunting licenses, including in digital format via a dedicated app. "We have worked to ensure a balance between wildlife protection, environmental sustainability, and compliance with hunting regulations and traditions, while also ensuring operational certainty and clarity for all those involved in the sector," emphasizes Cicala.
Dog training
The Regional Council also approved the Regulations for Hunting Dog Training and Exercise Areas and Dog Competitions (ZAC), which govern the establishment, management, and operation of areas dedicated to training, dog trials, and related activities. The measure updates an important regulatory framework for the orderly and controlled management of dog activities in the region (source: Basilicata Region).
