Regulatory changes
The confirmation that Calabrian hunters were waiting for has finally arrived: the closure of the TURDIDI hunting season on January 30th is saved, depending on the approval and subsequent publication in the Official Gazette of the amendment to the Financial Law regarding the Hunting Calendars. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Calabria Region in fact, communicated on Friday 10 January that, as a result of the changes to art. 18 paragraph 4 of Law 157/92, until the sentence that defines the merits regarding the legitimacy of the Hunting Calendar, "Hunting activity is permitted within the terms of paragraphs 1 and 1 bis and the limits of hunting and daily hours set by each region with the last legitimately applied Hunting Calendar regain their effectiveness".
Judgment of the TAR
To make the new rule applicable, the dispute remained open thanks to the appeals to the Council of State filed first by Federcaccia and then by the Region, which prevented the TAR ruling (closing on January 9) from becoming definitive. On the basis of the above, therefore, until the final ruling (hearing on the merits set for April 29), the various species can be hunted according to last year's Hunting Calendar; specifically in Calabria the closing date for hunting thrushes is scheduled for January 30.
Hunters' rights
Federcaccia expresses great satisfaction and thanks its Research Office, the Department and the Department of Agriculture and Hunting, its lawyers and the regional legal team, for having followed the right paths and undertaken the correct actions to protect the rights of hunters. The commitment and efforts made by our Association continue to bear fruit and this result is a good omen for the continuation. (FEDERCACCIA CALABRIA Press Office)
