Lots of solicitations
Floriano Massardi, regional councilor of the League and president of the 'Agriculture, mountains and forests' Commission of the Lombardy Region as well as promoter of the regional initiative on plastic ties has announced an important piece of news for the Lombard hunting world: "Finally, after more than a year and a half, and many requests from me, the resolution containing the implementing provisions regarding the rings placed on the tarsus of small birds has been approved by the Lombardy council".
New regional seal
"The text in fact provides that in Lombardy it will no longer be possible to use circular rings (whole cylinders) in aluminum. Therefore, those currently on the tarsus of birds will have to be replaced by the new regional seal, the metal band (so-called "bugna"). For newborns (chicks), however, in addition to the circular steel rings, it will also be possible to use, to guarantee animal welfare, the plastic facet as long as its irremovability is certified by an accredited testing laboratory".
The next goals
"So the approval of this fundamental text, unique in the Italian regional panorama, aimed at promoting animal welfare, is good. In fact, these plastic bands, unlike metal ones, do not damage the tarsus of birds, are immovable and will be certified as such by the same manufacturer. As Lega we will continue on the path of animal welfare, also confident of the support of hunters, true experts on the subject. I thank President Fontana for intervening to ensure that this resolution was approved, as well as the Councilor for Agriculture Beduschi and the entire technical structure of the department. The next achievable objectives, on which to concentrate our energies, will be those of the approval of the wildlife plan, the reopening of the bird snares and hunting in derogation (Source Lega Press Office)".
