Acknowledgement
Federcaccia Toscana-UCT welcomes the position expressed by the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani , who has ruled out the need to postpone the opening of the hunting season or to intervene in the pre-opening days scheduled for this year. This decision reflects a principle of balance and responsibility that our Association had also called for in recent days, given the lack of technical and scientific evidence to justify widespread measures that would have affected the activities of thousands of Tuscan hunters.
Management choices
Climatic and environmental conditions are important for management decisions and must be carefully monitored, but any decisions must be made based on objective data and appropriate technical and scientific assessments, not on the basis of ideological campaigns or pre-emptive demands against hunting.
Next application phase
"We have strongly criticized the decisions made in the new PFVR and will continue to do so as long as we deem it necessary to re-establish a balanced environment for the next implementation phase. Precisely for this reason, we believe it is equally right to recognize President Giani's responsible stance today, which reaffirms a principle that is fundamental to us: decisions on wildlife management and hunting must be based on data and technical-scientific evidence," stated Marco Salvadori, regional president of Federcaccia Toscana-UCT. We therefore welcome this decision, which goes in the direction we hoped for: assessing problems on their merits, without turning every situation into an opportunity to introduce new and unjustified hunting restrictions (Federcaccia Toscana-UCT Press Office).
