Questionable text
The text of the letter sent to Italy by Ion Codescu (Directorate General for the Environment of the European Commission) regarding the bill no. 1552As AB, we consider the content of this document totally unacceptable and based on a distorted and inaccurate reading of the Italian reality.
At the disposal of the Government
We are ready to do our part: AB officially places itself at the disposal of the Italian Government and the Ministry of the Environment to provide all the technical support necessary to respond point by point to the inaccuracies contained in the Commission's text.
Points to evaluate
These are the points we cannot let pass:
- Technical falsehoods: Claiming that the DDL 1552 provides for the extension of hunting in agritourism-hunting businesses beyond the closing of the season is a misinterpretation that ignores the distinction between wild fauna and farmed fauna.
- Defense of the Legislative Process: The Italian Parliament has the full prerogative to regulate hunting matters in accordance with the electoral mandate, local needs, and, of course, European directives. We cannot accept "dictates" or interference that aim to undermine the national legislative process.
- Land management: Reducing bureaucratic discretion and modernising control techniques are necessary to respond to environmental and agricultural emergencies that Brussels seems to ignore.
We are ready to respond in kind to anyone who attempts to block the work of Parliament with falsehoods (source: AB – Agrivenatoria Biodiversitalia).
