Support for withdrawal management
With the Decree of the Councilor for Environmental Protection number 20, dated August 7, 2026, the Sardinian Hunting Calendar for the 2026/2027 season was approved , which regulates huntable species, periods, days and hunting methods, daily and seasonal bag limits and specific requirements for the Natura 2000 Network areas. Among the main new features of the season is the introduction of the “Caccia Sardegna” App, made available free of charge by the Region for the digital registration of culled animals and to support the adaptive management of culling.
When is the app mandatory?
For the Sardinian partridge, Sardinian hare, wild rabbit, common pochard, and lapwing, use of the app is mandatory. A user manual and video tutorial with installation and tracking instructions are available. Hunting is permitted only to hunters who have previously activated the app and who record the animals shot according to the procedures established by the Decree. For all other huntable species, a trial phase of the app will begin in the 2026/2027 season, with voluntary participation.
The paper hunting sheet remains
Digital recording complements the paper hunting sheet and does not replace it. Therefore, game must continue to be recorded on the hunting sheet according to the procedures established by law. For species subject to the App requirement, the hunt must also be digitally recorded immediately after the kill and in any case before resuming hunting. In the event of a temporary internet connection loss, the hunter must still record the hunt on the hunting sheet and save it to the device. The recording must be transmitted by midnight of the same day or, if the internet connection continues, when the connection is restored and in any case by midnight of the following day.
Video Tutorial
To facilitate use of the tool, the Nature Protection and Forestry Policies Service has prepared a Video Tutorial and User Manual for the "Caccia Sardegna" App – Version 1.0. These provide step-by-step instructions for installing the app, entering personal data, registering a new catch, consulting your daily and seasonal bag, and managing your recordings without access to the network. The app also provides information on bag limits, self-management programs, and the requirements of the Natura 2000 Network. Before submitting, it is important to carefully check the species and number of animals entered, as a recording already submitted can be consulted but not modified. The manual also recommends not conducting test recordings, as these would be considered actual captures (source: Sardinia Region).
