The report from the University of Marche
The recognized hunting associations Federcaccia, Enalcaccia, Arcicaccia, ANLC, ANUUMigratoristi, Italcaccia, and the CNCN – National Hunting and Nature Committee, gathered together in the Hunting World Control Room, acknowledge the data released by the University of Urbino in the “Report on the survey of hunting victims 2025-2026”. The result of a careful analysis of the media coverage relating to the accidents that occurred in the hunting field From September 1, 2025, to January 30, 2026, and filtering out incidents related to illness, falls, intentional acts, or poaching, which is illegal and not attributable to hunting, the study highlights a total of 45 incidents, including eight fatalities. This is a lower number than the previous season, which recorded 62 incidents overall, including 14 fatalities.
Prevention activities
On an annual basis, 2025 ended with 37 injuries, a slight increase from the 34 recorded the previous year. The Steering Committee, which has always been active in promoting a hunting culture based on safety, is renewing its commitment to increasingly focused prevention efforts in the sector, increasing the number of courses and training activities aimed at improving hunter safety during hunts.
Disinformation campaigns
The goal remains to reduce the number of accidents to zero. He hopes, at this point, that all stakeholders in the sector will do their part to achieve this goal together and that the disinformation campaigns recently seen on social media will be avoided, rehashing incidents from the previous hunting season, even with news from over a year ago (source: FIDC).
