The plan of killing of deer on the Colmen, in the province of Sondrio, ended a few weeks ago and will be repeated again next year, but in the meantime we have to deal with a situation that has not improved. Enrico Marchesini, number one of the Morbegno Alpine Hunting Area tried to explain why the number of accidents caused by ungulates is so high. There have been three in the space of a month and always in the area included between the territories of Civo and Dazio.
A vast forest fire deprived the deer of an important grazing area as a result the shift to the streets was constant, to the point of increasing sightings as well. There will be censuses and suitable solutions will be evaluated and a return to the Colmen is not excluded.
Since the last hunting season 44 specimens were shot down (the plan included 50 heads) and for this reason Marchesini does not want to talk about a solved problem, even if the role of the Alpine District it can only stop at the hunt for selection. The censuses will also serve a quantify the new total number of deer to be killed, with the Province of Sondrio which will continue to indicate the operating methods.
