The best shooters ever
The 2025 international racing season of the ISSF (International Shooting Sports Federation) concludes this week with the World Cup Final, scheduled to begin today in Doha, Qatar. The event will feature the best shooters who have qualified throughout the year.
The Trap team
Italy has four champions who have earned this honor, three in Olympic Trap and one in Skeet. In Trap, we will be represented on the platform by Giovanni Pellielo (Fiamme Azzurre) from Vercelli, winner of seven Crystal Cups (Monaco (GER) 1992, Montecatini (ITA) 1996 and 1998, Doha (QAT) 2001, Rome (ITA) 2003, Dubai (UAE) 2005, and Mink (BLR) 2008, ed.), Mauro De Filippis (Fiamme Oro) from Taranto, gold medalist in the Al Ain (UAE) Final in 2019, and Silvana Maria Stanco (Fiamme Gialle) from Sturno (AV), gold medalist in Doha (QAT) in 2023.
The Skeet
Representing the Italian Skeet team will be Gabriele Rossetti (Fiamme Oro) from Ponte Buggianese (PT), winner of the 2015 Final in Nicosia (CYP) and last year's silver medal in New Delhi (IND). Leading the competition will be Technical Directors Marco Conti (Trap) and Luigi Agostino Lodde (Skeet). The first official event will be Friday, December 5th with Pre-Competition Training and the Opening Ceremony. The competition itself will be spread over three days, with 75 qualifying clays on Saturday, December 6th, another 50 qualifying clays on Sunday, December 7th, and the finals on Monday, December 8th, starting at 9:45 a.m. Italian time (source: FITAV).
