Plants to be tested
The first day of work has begun for the Italian National Trap and Skeet Teams at the Lusail Shooting Range in Doha, where the ISSF World Cup Final 2025, the event that officially closes the international season and brings together shooters who have distinguished themselves in the four World Cup events of the year. Having left yesterday from Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino airports, the four athletes and the two Technical Directors immediately got to work, taking advantage of the first few days to test the characteristics of the Qatari facility and refine the final technical details in preparation for the start of the competition.
The Italian protagonists
For the Trap event, under the guidance of Technical Director Marco Conti, the following will compete: Giovanni Pellielo (Fiamme Azzurre) from Vercelli, three-time Olympic silver medalist (Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, Rio de Janeiro 2016) and one-time bronze medalist (Sydney 2000), seven-time winner of the World Cup Final, with the last success achieved in Lonato last July; Mauro De Filippis (Fiamme Oro) from Taranto, 2022 World Champion in Osijek paired with Giulia Grassia, winner of four World Cup events—Lonato 2010, Changwon 2018, Osijek 2021 (gold in both the individual and mixed event with Jessica Rossi) and Rabat 2024—and gold at the 2019 World Cup Final in Al Ain. In 2025, she won her first Italian title at the TAV Belvedere in Uboldo, a silver and bronze medal at the World Cup in Lima (the latter in a pair with Silvana Stanco), a bronze in Lonato, and a bronze at the European Championships in Châteauroux. Completing the women's trap team will be Silvana Maria Stanco (Fiamme Gialle) from Sturno (AV), Olympic runner-up at Paris 2024, a silver medalist at the World Championships in Athens in October 2025, and a bronze medalist at Changwon 2018. She also won five World Cup gold medals—Nicosia 2013, Al Ain 2015, Changwon 2019 in a mixed team with Daniele Resca, Osijek 2021, and Lima 2025—and the Crystal Cup in Doha in 2023.
The program
As for Skeet, accompanied by Technical Director Luigi Agostino Lodde, Gabriele Rossetti (Fiamme Oro) from Ponte Buggianese (PT) will be on the platform, individual gold medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics and mixed gold medalist with Diana Bacosi at Paris 2024. Rossetti also boasts four world titles: Junior in Granada in 2014, in Moscow in 2017, in Lonato in 2019 paired with Bacosi and in Osijek in 2022 teamed with Elia Sdruccioli and Tammaro Cassandro; in 2015 he won gold in the World Cup final in Nicosia. The event program includes the Opening Ceremony and official training on Friday, December 5th; the first 75 qualifying clays on Saturday the 6th; the remaining 50 on Sunday the 7th; Monday 8th, at 9.45 am (Italian time), the men's Skeet final, at 11.30 am the women's Trap final and at 12.45 pm the men's final (source: FITAV).
