The men's ranking
The sky is blue above Almaty. In Kazakhstan our flag bearers make a great impression in the Skeet competition. ISSF World Cup, with a haul of two medals, one gold and one bronze. The undisputed stars were Gabriele Rossetti and Martina Bartolomei. Rossetti, the Tuscan athlete, literally dominated his performance, starting with a promising 124/125 in qualifying, before an impressive 35/36 in the final, which saw the Olympic champion prevail over Germany and Japan. Rossetti also set a new world record.
There had to be a ransom and there it was.
These are the impressions gathered at the end of the race by FITAV: “I must say that, after a huge amount of work since last winter, I've changed a few technical things, already thinking about Los Angeles. I wanted to get back into the game, trying to change what could be changed and improve what could be improved. So, I worked on some details, and after the first World Cup this year, which was a bit difficult, I wanted to bounce back immediately. I needed this victory; it's been too long since I've had one.".
The decisive sprint
Marina Bartolomei (Italian Air Force) also performed splendidly. After scoring 119/125 in the qualifying rounds, she strung together the winning streak in the final, taking bronze with a total of 27/32. The gold medal went to the local athlete, Assem Orynbay (33/36), followed by China's Yiting Jiang (30/36). Once again, the Arezzo athlete's immediate reaction was evident: "It's my first World Cup medal, and I'm so happy to have won it. After the personal disappointment of the 2024 Paris Olympics, it took me a while to get back into the swing of things, but I never gave up. This medal repays me for all the sacrifices and work I put in every day. Yes, I'm truly very happy, and I dedicate this medal entirely to myself.".
