Qualifications to frame
The second Test of ISSF World Cup in Almaty (KAZ) concluded with a fine silver medal won by Silvana Maria Stanco and Mauro De Filippis in the Mixed Team competition. The police officer from Sturno (AV) and the police officer from Taranto were the top qualifiers, finishing with scores of 145/150, and entered the final wearing the number one bib.
Delay in the first rotations
In the medal race, they struggled at the start, but regained their focus and battled with Taipei's Wan-Yu Liu and Kun-Pi Yang for the gold medal. Unfortunately, the delay in the first rotations prevented the Azzurri from recovering, and with a score of 33/40, they finished the competition with the silver medal around their necks, behind their opponents, who had won with 36/40. India also made the podium, third with 24/30.
The statements
"We entered the final very focused and determined to do well, but it wasn't easy to get a medal. It was crucial to finish the qualification with the highest score to increase our chances of reaching the podium," Stanco explained. "The new format requires a very fast pace, and we know that, to achieve a result, we have to perform well from the start," De Filippis added. "It was a good way to open the qualifying season for Los Angeles 2028. We know we have some fine-tuning to do, but we're headed in the right direction."
