A perfect performance
The ISSF World Cup Final in Doha (QAT) gives Italy a splendid gold medal thanks to the great performance of Silvana Maria TiredThe representative of the Fiamme Gialle di Sturno (AV) led the competition from the start. Winning the qualification round with a score of 121/125, the Italian also set the pace in the final, finding herself duelling with San Marino's Alessandra Perilli for the gold and silver. Trailing by one clay in the closing stages, she capitalized on her opponent's mistake on the final clay and, in the playoff for the top spot, edged her out with scores of 26/35 +2 to 26/35 +1. Turkey's Rumeysa Pelin Kaya took third place.
The men's rankings
“After an endless series of silver medals, the gold medal finally arrived. It was becoming a farce,” Stanco said after the final. “I'm really happy I got it. It was a long and demanding season, but in the end I made it. Aside from a bit of confusion due to the new format, which was completely normal, I conducted the competition as I wanted. I was very nervous, because the limited number of clays available doesn't give me much chance of recovering from a mistake, but I made a few and, fortunately, I was able to fight for the gold against a great shooter like Alessandra Perilli from San Marino, winner of last year's Final, who is also a friend of mine.” In the men's event, Mauro De Filippis finished just off the podium with a score of 16/20. The police officer from Taranto had qualified for the final with a score of 121/125 in third place, but in the new final he missed four clays, too many to earn a medal.
Waiting for 2026
It was also a shame for Giovanni Pellielo. The Italian, representing the Fiamme Azzurre di Vercelli team, competing in his twenty-third World Cup Final, had to settle for eighth place overall with a qualifying score of 117/125 and a final score of 6/10. On the podium were American William Hinton, gold, Guatemalan Jean Pierre Brol Cardenas, silver, and American Walton Eller, bronze. Unfortunately, Gabriele Rossetti did not win a medal in the Men's Skeet Final. The policeman from Ponte Buggianese (PT), after earning a third-place finish in the decisive round with a score of 123/125, finished fourth with a score of 25/28. Ahead of him were three American shooters: Christian Elliot, gold, Vincent Hancock, silver, and Dustan Taylor, bronze. Thus concludes the ISSF international competitive season. The first event of 2026 will be in Tangier (MAR) with the First World Cup Round from March 25 to April 3 (source: FITAV).
