The vote in Strasbourg
"With the vote in favor of the dossier 'The Future of Agriculture and the Common Agricultural Policy post-2027', for which I was shadow rapporteur in the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI), during the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the new face of the CAP has been outlined : ambitious, resilient, capable of responding to future challenges and bringing agriculture back to the center of European policy," said Sergio Berlato (FdI), leader of ACR (Association for Rural Culture).
The requests
We have called for more funding for this strategic sector, with a budget independent of the Single Fund; for the strengthening of direct payments and their allocation to active and professional farmers; for increased reserves for agricultural crises with resources outside the CAP; for voluntary eco-schemes that respect agricultural diversity among Member States and the economic sustainability of businesses, which has been undermined by the Green Deal; for concrete support for the livestock sector; for greater transparency in product origin labels; for greater attention to enhancing the role of women in agriculture and the inclusion of young people, and much more.
Greater protection
"These actions can restore dignity and greater protection to a sector that in recent years has been tormented by the animal-environmentalist ideologies represented by the Green Deal that have guided European policy."
