The next 5 years
At the meeting of the Management Committee of theSingle ATC of Brescia Last Tuesday, President Germano Pe and the technical drafter, Dr. Massimo Ragusa, presented the 2026-2030 Multi-Year Plan for the ATC's territory. This comprehensive work is premised on territorial and environmental analysis and framework, with reference to space and land use. This has yielded interesting macro-data regarding the amount of urbanized areas (more than 22%) compared to the total territorial extension of 230.590 hectares. This is also the worrying data regarding the overall decline in the number of hunters participating in the area, from 19.600 in 2012 to 10.300 in 2025; practically halved in the space of fifteen years, as is the general trend.
Management objectives
The overall management objectives include environmental redevelopment and improvements, especially in the protected areas (ZRC and ZRA), and subsequent implementation of measures to promote environmental diversification and a crop mosaic across the entire territory. These measures, however, require strong collaboration with the agricultural sector. Likewise, the implementation of facilities to adapt game to the landscape prior to final release, including open-air aviaries specifically designed to prevent predation by mammals, is planned. It is also planned to gradually shift some of the bird releases from the open hunting season to the spring and summer periods, to allow for adaptation and availability of game better adapted to the release sites, or even for the potential nesting of spring birds.
Ideas and proposals
In short, a different idea that can revitalize the overall efforts of our hunting community, of which the ATC is partly representative, for the territories we frequent for our passion. This also includes the willingness to provide services, such as with the work teams, and the ideas and proposals we have always offered. What can I say? Initial considerations suggest that the ATC Management Committee's project is moving in the direction we have repeatedly hoped for: greater awareness and responsibility for game and the environment, in synergy with other land users, especially those who earn a living from their agricultural labor. Of course, we would like others who are not above criticizing our world to offer the same operational availability, without fear of getting their hands dirty, and without fear of interacting with us, who are committed to working tirelessly, including with municipal administrations, to the overall defense of the territory.
