One emergency leads to another
It began in late spring and early summer with the issue of delays in printing and delivering renewed hunting licenses by the Police Headquarters. This issue was almost completely resolved in July and August, although it is still not fully resolved, after the hunting associations had a clarifying meeting with Brescia Police Chief Paolo Sartori. Now that this emergency has been resolved, we are faced with the hunting license emergency. In fact, as of today, the date of this news report, two-thirds of hunters in Brescia lack the essential equipment needed to practice hunting , particularly nearly all those who hunt in the ATC (Alpine Hunting Areas) and even some members of the larger Alpine Districts. How could this have happened? It appears that the Lombardy Region has appointed a new company, following a tender, to supply and ship the licenses.
September 20th is approaching
It also appears that the company sent a third of the permits before the summer break, intending to take a vacation and resume shipments this week. However, hunters who currently have no permits are rightly concerned because September 20th is only a few days away, and there is no absolute guarantee of delivery by mail. Our Association, despite legitimate complaints, has chosen to actively collaborate with Plan B, which regional officials have meanwhile launched. We are available to act as a liaison between the UTR offices and the hunters still waiting, possibly distributing a copy of the permit while awaiting the actual delivery of the registered letters containing the original permits.
The consequences
All of this will significantly increase the workload for our presidents, who we are confident will not back down this time either. However, this new commitment should also make us reflect on the importance of associations, not only in times of emergency, but also as credible interlocutors for the general measures adopted by the Lombardy Region, so as not to feel like they are sometimes treated almost like a nuisance. We are confident, however, that the company appointed by the Lombardy Region and Poste Italiane will be able to fulfill the task entrusted to them, even on the last day, and that our hunters, from any association, after having completed all the required formalities, will be able to safely pursue their hunting activities (source: Fidc Brescia – Cacciapensieri).
