Radio insults
All good things come in threes: Paolo Mocavero, leader of the association “Centopercentoanimalisti”, was sentenced to 9 months in prison for the insults directed at former footballer Roberto Baggio, whom he targeted for his passion for hunting. In this case, the insults were uttered during the Radio 24 program "La Zanzara," and the charge was inevitably defamation.
A story that lasted fifteen years
Baggio himself has so far obtained three sentences in his favor, partly because the clash between the two dates back ten years. It was 2015 when the "divine ponytail" was insulted during the Vicenza hunting fair, with the attacks continuing over time. The recent sentence is the heaviest ever.
22 months of sentences
The defense's argument did not prevail: according to Mocavero's lawyers, the insults should be considered provocations and animal rights campaigns due to his membership in "Centopercentoanimalisti." Added together, the sentences handed down to date to Mocavero himself are very close to two years in prison.
