Accusations that don't stand up
A sentence that went almost unnoticed but which must be investigated further at all costs. The Court of Grosseto has decided to reject the opposition presented by the Vitadacani Association and the “La Ninna” Hedgehog Recovery Center against the dismissal of the charges relating to the eradication of mouflons in theGiglio Island.
The reaction of the park authority
We are talking about what was done against Giampiero Sammuri, number one of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, and Maurizio Burlando, director of the same body. The Park itself understandably welcomed this decision of the judges which is yet another chapter in a rather complex story.
Contested crimes
Here is what was put in black and white by the Tuscan Park: "The Judge considered the arguments of the Public Prosecutor who had requested the dismissal last 22 December 2023 to be valid. Despite the opposition presented by the "Vitadacani ODV" Association and the Ricci Recovery Center La Ninna - whose manager, moreover, was sent to trial for defamation against President Sammuri himself - the Court established that the conditions for configuring the contested crime did not exist".
