A new, yet another, update regarding the mouflons of Giglio Island, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Tuscan Archipelago Park. Last December 8th there was talk about it due to the conclusion of the eradication actions: in practice, two years after the agreement signed with LAV and WWF, the LIFE LETSGO Giglio project for the part that concerns the eradication of mouflon is to be considered concluded. This time there are always animal rights and environmental associations involved.
The ENPA note
Specifically, ENPA (National Environmental Protection Agency) spread this message via its social media accounts: “The mouflons of Giglio Island, those remaining, are safe for now. We have obtained a suspension of culling, but there is still a long way to go".
Last specimens
The note continues: “The killing of the last remaining specimens of mouflons on the island of Giglio has been suspended by the TAR pending the hearing on 28/02. It is a very important result obtained with LNDC (National League for the Defense of Dogs) and Vitadacani".
