Specimen at risk
ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) also had its say on the abatement ofbear Kj1, guilty of having recently injured a hiker and removed after the publication of a specific ordinance by the Province of Trento. It must be said that the institute had recognized in recent days that the specimen was dangerous, but now the position appears different.
The role of ISPRA
Here are the statements released by Piero Genovesi, wildlife manager of ISPRA: "Our role is to evaluate whether the political decision of the province of Trento, which in this case was culling, is consistent with the Habitat directive, with the provincial law and with Pacobace, the action plan for bear conservation in the Alps”.
Puppy monitoring
Genovesi then added: "As for the chances of survival of the three bear cubs, they are quite high, even if they do not have a mother, the recommendation expressed by ISPRA is to try as much as possible to leave them in nature by monitoring them."
