The has just ended ª 33 edition of the Great Veltro Corrente Trophy (Massimo Scheggi Memorial) which, like every year, takes place among the evocative landscapes of the Toscana. The historic dog-lover event took place under the skilled guidance of Yuri d'Onofrio and Buttini family. The hills and the wooded vegetation were the setting for the comparison between the best exponents of Italian hounds.
The trophy, divided into three stages, saw a good presence of hares and other wild animals. The first moment a Barberino Val d'Elsa it was an opportunity to remember Massimo Scheggi, director of the Hunting Federation and admirer of dog lovers. The memorial which has now arrived at 13 edition. The trophy was won by the pair of short-haired hounds of Henry Montiani.
Florence was the theater of the second stage, originally assigned to Grosseto. The organizers preferred to replace the Tuscan town, initially included in the calendar, for logistical reasons. In the Tuscan capital, the best four singles, four couples and eight mutes were chosen, who participated in the semifinal in the last stage.
The event ended in Siena, some days later than the official calendar. Due to adverse weather conditions, the finals on Sunday 18 February have been postponed to Friday March 23.
Il Veltro Corrente Trophy saw excel in the category single the short-haired black and tan hound of Nicholas Zanrosso. Between pairs the hounds of the Apennines of Stephen the Apostolic they beat all challengers. While for the mute button the prize was awarded to the short-haired hounds of Claudius Rampini.
La Toscana with its landscapes and its gentle slopes it will once again be the protagonist of the 34th edition of the Great Veltro Corrente Trophy a February 2019.
