Historic bond
Over 30 years of bilateral relations, a friendship consolidated over time, and the historic twinning between Perugia and Bratislava. Relations between Italy and Slovakia couldn't be better, and could be further strengthened "thanks" to wolves. The Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida, he hinted that the Eastern European country could be the model to follow in dealing with the emergency represented by these wild animals.
Presence at Sigep
The government representative spoke today in Rimini at Sigep (an international reference and inspirational event for the foodservice community), speaking, among other things, about wolves. The goal, according to Lollobrigida, is to draw inspiration from Slovakia.where there is protection for other species that were excessively attacked by the wolf with a balance of presences to guarantee the entire ecosystem".
Withdrawals, transfers and cullings
All this should therefore translate into withdrawals, transfers, and culls. The minister then added: "In terms of reasoning, we have always approached this topic with the criterion of science: when a species is in difficulty it must be helped, in 1990 there were only 100 wolves in Italy, today the number of wolves is higher than what is tolerable in breeding areas.".
