Very high competitive level
The Cypriot platforms of the “Cosmopolis Multi Venue” in Kornos have issued the verdicts of the 47th edition of the World Championship of the non-Olympic specialty of SportingThe 2025 World Championships proved to be a highly competitive competition that put all participants to the test. Despite the challenges, the Azzurri, coached by Veniero Spada, managed to secure podium finishes in the team competition on four separate occasions.
The results
Jacopo Adamati of Rovato (BS), Samuel Ligi of Fermignano (PU), and Mattia Degli Antoni of Passirano (BS) are the new Junior World Team Runner-Ups, earning silver with a score of 487/200, second only to the US team—an important achievement for athletes making their first planetary debut. The men's quartet, made up of Davide Gasparini of Gabicce Mare (PU), Michael Spada, Daniele Valeri of Spoleto (PG), and Samuele Sacripanti of Amelia (TR), earned bronze with a score of 720/800, bettered only by the French and American teams. Third place also went to the Seniors Alessandro Gaetani of San Miniato, Paolo Arcangioli of Castiglione del Lago (PG) and Giuseppe Pupo of Pistoia (PT), on the podium with 502/600, and the Veterans Giovanni Provenzale of Rimini, Salvatore Valentini of Longiano (FC) and Carlo Sestini of Empoli (FI) with 468/600.
Other noteworthy performances
Some individual performances were also noteworthy, though not podium-worthy. The best of the Italians was Michael Spada of Perugia, fourth in the Open standings with 187/200, just one clay behind third-place finisher Bastien Harvart of France. Senior Alessandro Gaetani of San Miniato (PI) also came very close to bronze, tied with Britain's Paul Gillett after the regular series at 176/200. In the play-off series for third and fourth place, the Italian, following another tie at 22/25, was then forced by his opponent to stop just shy of the podium with a +10 lead (source: FITAV).
