Two months of great news
Not even two months ago, the ACMA - Association of Aquatic Migratory Hunters, a sector of Federcaccia, informed the hunting world about the fact that the first coots they started to move. Satellite telemetry came into its own last February and now that it is April and spring has come into full swing, there is some news of no small importance.
The association's post
Here is what the ACMA itself wrote on Facebook in the last few hours: “After an initial stop in Poland, the Friuli VG 17 coot moved further north to probably settle permanently in Latvia. This is currently the longest migration measured among all coots in recent years".
The case of Friuli
In March the association spoke about the departure for the migration towards the breeding grounds of one of the coots captured and equipped with the satellite in Friuli-Venezia-Giulia. In that case, the tendency of the species to be a short/medium range migrant was confirmed. We'll see if any will move further away.
