Opposition to hunting
A recent ruling by the Council of State has literally overturned hunting case law. On February 3, the judges upheld the appeal of a woman resident in the province of Ravenna who had requested exclude his land from hunting on ethical grounds, specifically his aversion to hunting. This could set a serious precedent, but what exactly could happen?
The next steps
As emphasized by the Animal Liberation association, assistance will be provided to those who wish to ban hunters from their properties, also for ethical reasons. This is the organization's statement: "Animal Liberation will be dedicated to informing on the procedure to follow and assisting citizens who want their properties free from hunting, also by forming a network of peace territories.".
Conscientious objection
The woman's conscientious objection failed to convince the Regional Administrative Court of Emilia Romagna, which ruled against her, as did the Regional Agriculture, Hunting, and Fishing Service. Now, however, the Council of State's ruling threatens to open up a completely new avenue.
