The forthcoming entry into force of a new Hunting Calendar for the Lazio Region has been announced, currently still being defined.
During the event for the presentation in Viterbo of the new "Guide to hunting activities in Lazio", the regional councilor for Agricultural Policies of Lazio, Angela Birindelli, in her speech announced the development of a draft of the new Hunting Calendar for Lazio.
In fact, Birindelli announced, “We have fine-tuned a draft hunting calendar that incorporates the indications of the Lazio TAR ruling where it requires the early closure of hunting for woodcock, thrushes and aquatic birds. Closing will be set for January 19th instead of January 30th, as previously foreseen ”.
The commissioner then added, "With this provision we will avoid that the hunting of these species has to stop on December 20, as requested by the Lav and the other associations that have presented the appeal partially accepted by the TAR, against which, however, we will present an appeal to the Council of State ".
Furthermore, Birindelli announced that the Region will extend the ban on hunters to use toxic cartridges to all wetlands of Lazio, ie containing lead shot, as is already the case in special protection areas. The ban makes an exception for wild boar hunting.
Birindelli then confirmed an upcoming modification of the regional law 17/95 “which it will establish a clear division of competences in wildlife - hunting matters between the Region and the provinces; the definition of the competences and functions of the Territorial Areas of Hunting, the attribution of competences for the compensation of damages caused by wildlife ".
Finally the commissioner Birindelli announced that the new Hunting Calendar will give more powers to the Regional Council as is already the case in other regions.
