Urbe, a scattered municipality that is part of the province of Savona, joins after sixteen years of Beigua Geopark, a Ligurian natural park which also includes the Genoese. The locality had so far decided not to join on the initiative of the mayor himself, but the current mayor has turned to the Region to announce the vote for entry into the park. The park authority appreciated the change of course, while the hunters did not like the choice at all, so much so that there could even be legal actions and appeals.
The municipality of Savona has changed its mind to make the most of the opportunity, especially from a tourist and professional point of view. The initiative, therefore, is considered useful for increasing the income of the territory. The boar hunting teams are strongly opposed. A delegation made up of ten representatives, including the president of Federcaccia Urbe, had met the mayor last January, anticipating the actions to oppose the accession, given that hunting is prohibited in the park.
The latest request from the municipality left a strong sense of disappointment, despite being assured that the area of the ban he does not have much interest in the hunting world. The boundaries of the Beigua Geopark are not the same as those of the municipality and some hunting areas that are defined as “historical” would be excluded.
