Excess wild boars: the Liguria region has decided to expand the possibilities of intervention for landowners and farmers. In the new rules on the control of ungulates approved by the junta, the figure of the "specialized" hunter appears, instructed to perform an auxiliary task with respect to the Regional wildlife-environmental surveillance unit. "The measures introduced with this provision respond to a need widely felt by the agricultural world of our region - explains the vice president and regional councilor for Hunting and Agriculture, Alexander Piana- between 2020 and 2021 the regional control unit removed about 1.800 specimens of ungulates ”.
Specialized hunters, “specially trained according to the indications of Ispra and the Region will be able to work alongside and under the coordination of public security agents and auxiliaries, to implement the wildlife control interventions required by law. In involvement of hunters - concludes Piana - priority will be given to the need to guarantee the effectiveness and timeliness of interventions ".
