Whenever hunting is treated in pejorative terms, Europe and Community law are evoked to continue a recessive hunting policy. Notice is evoked and various penalties and procedures often promoted by Italian MEPs, not least the one announced by a member of the 5 Star Movement. Italians who in fact invoke measures against their country, a good record!
Faced with the recent opening in France of numerous huntable species, some by way of derogation, it is questionable whether the French are non-EU citizens or whether they are fully entitled as founding fathers of the European Union. Since Italy is also among the founding fathers, someone should explain to us how this difference in treatment is possible. Without going into details and to be concrete, we ask our country to align itself with France in hunting matters and, if necessary, to join forces with other countries such as Spain, in the face of the environmentalist lobby.
It would therefore be advisable for our MEPs to relate to their Transalpine cousins and have them explain, with a bit of humility and respect, which were the suitable tools to enforce their respective traditions in hunting. The story of traditional hunts and in derogation represent a striking and significant example. In the past, Regional delegations went to Europe to get something concrete and returned with the closure of the Roccoli by 2017.
We have heard that a delegation of the Lombardy Region headed by the Councilor with delegation to hunting he intends to go on a “pilgrimage” to Brussels in mid-September, we are not sure what to do and with what objectives and purposes. If they are the ones to go to the usual characters and Officials whose thoughts we know well, let's say immediately and firmly not to spend the money of the trip and stay at home. If, on the other hand, the intention is to lay the foundations for a hearing to the Commission in the presence of the President of the same, then things change.
However, from now on we want to request that any delegation going to Europe must be supported and accompanied by a pull, a group of qualified experts on the subject indicated by the hunting associations. Only in this way would we have the guarantee of starting a confrontation with Europe by seeing side by side the regional political forces supported by the MEPs elected also with the vote of the hunters in explaining our sacrosanct reasons such as those of keeping alive a centuries-old activity such as that represented by the our green cathedrals: the roccoli, a heritage of tradition and history that cannot be canceled or bartered or exchanged with anything else in the world. This must be a clear and strong warning to those who govern the Lombardy Region.
