The measures envisaged
Lombardy region The Ministry has launched two additional calls for proposals outlining a comprehensive strategy to support the region, addressing issues ranging from wildlife safety to landscape conservation and the management of road accident compensation claims. The measures include a clearly defined calendar of openings and deadlines for 2025 and beyond.
The permitted interventions
The largest initiative is the call for proposals for non-productive agricultural investments with environmental objectives, which provides a total of €5 million under the 2023-2027 PSN/CAP. This funding is intended exclusively for land management bodies, whether public (such as municipalities, provinces, and mountain communities) or private (including park authorities and Natura 2000 area managers). Two eligible interventions are: securing power lines and overhead infrastructure to reduce collisions with birds, and building ecological connectivity infrastructure to facilitate the movement of wildlife by preventing collisions with vehicles and roads. Applications are open until December 22, 2025.
Compensation Management
A second call focuses on supporting Lombardy's historical and environmental heritage, funding the conservation of bird snares, which we've already discussed. Finally, a dedicated procedure has been activated for managing compensation claims for wildlife accidents. This online procedure is reserved for law firms, claims management companies, insurance companies, and social security institutions acting on behalf of clients or seeking compensation for damages suffered from collisions with wild mammals or birds in the region, excluding stray dogs. Applications opened in early October and will last until December 31, 2027.
