Protection status
The regional councillor for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Alessandro Beduschi, comments on the news of the vote in the European Parliament, which approved the Commission's proposal to reduce the protection status of the wolf from "strictly protected" to "protected".
An important step
"Today's vote - Beduschi says - represents an important step towards a more realistic and sustainable management of the presence of the wolf. Finally, we recognize that we cannot ignore the difficulties of those who daily guard our mountains and our rural areas".
Coexistence is possible
"As always - concludes the councilor - our guideline is dictated by science and not by ideology. Coexistence is possible only if supported by concrete tools, based on data, which also secure the work of breeders and the continuity of their activities, without compromising the wildlife balance".
