Territorial Wildlife and Hunting Consultation
Lombardy Region has issued an invitation to a meeting of the Territorial Wildlife Hunting Consultation regarding the UTR of Brescia for next Tuesday 12 November in anticipation of the supplementary provisions of territorial competence to Regional hunting calendar for the 2025/26 season. Certainly an absolute novelty for the times, largely anticipated, with which we proceed to ask the opinions of the representatives of the same Consulta, which also includes all the Presidents of ATC and Alpine Districts, given that we are in the middle of the 2024 season. But which must be widely appreciated precisely in the logic of arriving at approving at a regional level an act, the hunting calendar, in the earliest possible times, in order to have the necessary time to receive and possibly counter the usual legal oppositions of the world against us.
The risk of suspensions
Without arriving like this year with suspension measures of opening by the TAR the day before the expected start of the hunting season. We believe that this is the right way to be able to hope for a possible certainty of the validity of the acts, moreover also this year's calendar was considered in the final sentence of the TAR Milan as a correct and incontestable act, even if the animalist appeal cost us 15 days of application mess with possible hunts for mammals and closed hunts for birds in a stray form.
The interest of ecosystems
It is worth remembering that this year's animalist appeal even referred to the alleged unconstitutionality of hunting because it was considered to be in conflict with the new article 9 of the Constitution regarding animal welfare. And that instead in the ruling the Judge held that hunting must exist in the interest of ecosystems, that it has social and scientific value and that it must follow community legislation and national and regional laws. We hope that with acts approved well in advance we can be made administratively safe and certainly the path of early approval of the calendar by the offices of the Lombardy Region, which we thank for their understanding, can be of great help (source: FIDC Brescia).
