Paladins of the Territory
The Italian Hunting Federation, municipal section of Macerata, has joined the project Paladins of the Territory organized by the UNA Foundation (Man Nature Environment). This year, on the recommendation of the environment councilor of the Municipality of Macerata, the hunters worked to clean 3 historical sources.
Clean sources
Fonte Maggiore, built in 1326 by the brothers Marabeo and Domenico, formerly the largest water reservoir in the city, and Fonte della Quercia, dating back to 1577, when Monte Valenti was governor of the city. Already restored to their splendor since 2022 by the Macerata hunters coordinated by the Macerata section of the Italian Hunting Federation, this year too on 20 April, again by the same volunteers, they were cleaned and reconditioned again. On May 12th, the group of Macerata hunter friends of the Italian Hunting Federation, to satisfy the request of the environmental councilor of the municipality of Macerata, met again to bring to light also Fonte San Giuliano dedicated to the patron saint of the city and protector of hunters.
Spirit of friendship and collaboration
History has it that San Giuliano's horse stopped in that place and, digging with his paw, found water to drink. Since the source was almost completely invaded by brambles and brushwood, it required a laborious restoration operation which ended late Sunday morning; the participants relieved their tiredness with a nice snack. The spirit of friendship and collaboration of the Macerata hunters, combined with the love for their city and the sensitivity for social issues, ensures that these activities can be carried out, therefore, the FIdC management of Macerata warmly thanks all the associated and non-associated hunters who participated by making their time and skills available (source: FIDC).
