The Lombardy Region has launched a new call for proposals aimed at supporting amateur and sport fishing and protecting native fish stocks by funding intervention programs proposed by qualified amateur associations.
Regional Councillor Floriano Massardi of the Lega Nord, President of the Agriculture, Mountain and Forestry Commission , commented : "This is an important sign of attention to the needs of our fishermen, committing a total financial endowment of 200 thousand euros, to cover up to 90% of the costs incurred and up to a maximum contribution of 10 thousand euros."
“Activities related to two distinct lines of intervention, carried out in basins not assigned under concession, will be eligible for the call for proposals, open until September 30th:
1) Expenditure on programs for the protection, management, and conservation of native fish stocks, such as the open-water repopulation of fish species, the creation of natural spawning areas, and river restoration projects, the purchase of consumer goods, expenses for routine maintenance, insurance policies, and the purchase of technical uniforms and equipment necessary for carrying out activities, as well as fishing equipment for repopulation purposes.
2) Expenses for the management of fish breeding centers intended for the repopulation of water bodies, such as the purchase of embryonated eggs or consumer goods used for the management of fish hatcheries and the rental of equipment intended for the management of fish hatcheries" explains Massardi.
"A round of applause goes to the Fontana Administration, which once again demonstrates its sensitivity to the needs of the amateur and sport fishing community, an activity that is important for its social, economic, and regional promotion value," concludes Massardi.
