The post on Facebook
The Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida, published a long post on Facebook after the question of the hunting amendments withdrawn in the Senate: “I read with sadness some criticisms of the government from people who say they practice hunting. Certainly many will be in good faith... I have also listened to embarrassing declarations from electoral campaign "amendment supporters" and unrealistic proposals which in many years have never materialized despite having the possibility. Zero results but a bag full of slogans. On the contrary, in 18 months we have reactivated the Wildlife Hunting Committee that had been dissolved for years. Regulated in order to obtain clear ISPRA opinions and within certain times. For the first time today the New Wildlife Hunting Committee has verified the calendars of all the Italian regions and the most virtuous among them have already approved it in the Council. This is to prevent instrumental appeals that undermine the right to exercise the hunting activity that Italian and European legislation regulates".
How much has been done for hunters
“We have worked to prevent the European directives on Wet Areas from being interpreted in an excessively restrictive and penalizing way. We have given back to license and qualification holders the consideration that all citizens with a clean criminal record who respect the law and carry out a permitted activity deserve, contributing as bioregulators to the management of the eco-system. We have accepted threats from "professional environmentalists" and the "insulting" of having the Hunters among our "friends" by boasting about it without fear. We operated by constantly comparing ourselves with all the hunting associations. In the Agriculture Decree, the period of wild boar hunting was extended by one month with the aim of reducing the risk of contagion from the "scourge" of African swine fever".
How the facts would be
“Only 2 amendments relating to “hunting” were withdrawn by the government, together with many others on other topics, because they were not consistent with the Legislative Decree which, in order to be approved, must contain articles directly linked to the object. On the merits of the two amendments in question, Masaf's opinion remains positive and with it the commitment to continue the process to approve their content. Just as the commitment to updating Law 157/92 remains, of which we have already modified some aspects and on which the Wildlife Hunting Committee has been urged by me to work since its inception. I asked its members, representing all the subjects involved in the management of this activity, to provide parliament with proposals for updating a now obsolete regulation, making it compatible with the protection of the environment, wildlife and hunting activities. An answer must be given to those who have spread resentment and lies in recent hours. For now with these explanations and to follow with other concrete facts. Contrary to what talkers do, I am used to only telling what I have already achieved rather than commenting, like an old mother-in-law, on what others do or deluding people who trust that they can work miracles."
