The Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests Hon. Francesco Lollobrigida announced the members of the national wildlife-hunting committee. The choice of members has aroused some controversy, especially from Arcicaccia, which contested the criteria used to select the representatives, complaining that none of its managers were included in the committee, despite representing one of the main hunting associations in the country . The three representatives of the hunting associations appointed by the Minister are Massimo Buconi, Paolo Sparvoli and Lamberto Cardia, respectively national presidents of Federcaccia, Libera Caccia and Enalcaccia. According to the Minister, the choice was based on the criterion of the "greater consistency" of the associations.
However, there could be the possibility that, at the end of the first two years of the committee's activity, there will be a rotation of the representatives to also include the representatives of the currently excluded hunting associations.
It should be underlined that there may have been some clerical errors in drafting the decree, as there appears to be an inconsistency regarding the number of representatives of the Conference of Regions. At the end of the meeting that designated them, reference was made to three representatives, but only two were indicated in the list provided: Giovanni Carlo Lattanzi (Lazio) and Andrea Massari (Lombardy).
The effective members of the committee include Donato Monaco, alternate president by government delegation, and Roberto Cicinelli, representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture and the Environment. Other members are Roberta Artioli (Province), Roberto Cocchi (Ispra), Niccolò Sacchetti (Coldiretti), Donato Rotundo (Confagricoltura), Vincenzo Stabile (Ecological research groups), Domenico Fulgione (Italian Zoological Union), Gianluca Di Giannantonio (Enci) , Pier Giuseppe Meneguz (Italian delegation of the International Hunting Council) and Anna Maria Procacci (Enpa).
The national wildlife committee plays a crucial role in the management of wildlife and hunting in Italy, and the inclusion of representatives from different organizations is essential to ensure balanced and effective management. We hope that the committee can carry out constructive work for the good of the environment and hunting activities in our country.
