A primary asset
“The green light to the Asset Decree confirms how rural and fishing activities are considered a primary asset by our government. Let's give concrete answers and strengthen Italian supply chains, putting new resources to support our farmers and our fishermen. We have also planned targeted interventions on this occasion. A special fund of 500 thousand euros is established to support consortia and companies in the aquaculture sector to combat the spread of the blue crab, in addition to the 2,9 million euros allocated at the beginning of August. These figures will be added to the 10 million euros that will arrive with a specific Masaf decree. In total over 13 million euros to deal with this phenomenon. Furthermore, the resources for wine companies affected by downy mildew increase from 1 to 7 million euros". Thus the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida.
Ways and times for hunting
The decree definitively approved today in the Chamber intervenes on the hunting calendars, granting the Regions the possibility of modifying the methods and times for hunting certain species, following the opinion of the national wildlife-hunting technical committee as well as of ISPRA for which a certain timescale is introduced. “Also approved are changes to the sanctions relating to the legislation on the use of ammunition containing lead in wet areas, in particular during the movement from one area to another – added the minister -. The hunting calendar must be published by the Regions by 15 June of each year and must indicate, for each species of huntable wild fauna, the maximum daily number of animals which can be taken".
The contribution of hunters
“Hunting activity is legitimate and regulated by state laws. Citizens who contribute economically to repopulation activities and voluntarily to bio-regulation activities. After nine years I reconstituted the Wildlife Hunting Committee, which I already convened in September, as a natural place for discussion between interested parties to develop useful proposals for regulating this activity and its implementation. With the changes to the sector envisaged by the Asset Decree, we guarantee respect for the environment and the various activities that can be carried out there", concluded Minister Lollobrigida (source: Ministry of Agriculture).
