Fauna: New study on birds from the University of Oxford, they tend to collect and accumulate food during the day and then eat it at night.
The birds go in search of food in the morning but return to the nest to eat only in the late afternoon or evening. This was discovered by a new study from the University of Oxford published in the journal "Biology Letters" which analyzed the behavior of several species of birds in Wytham Woods, including the Great Tit (Parus major), the Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus), the Marsh Tit (Poecile palustris), Coal Tit (Periparus ater) and Nuthatch (Sitta europaea). The research involved and monitored more than two thousand birds through radio tags. The observations also included 36 food-containing sites scattered throughout the woods. From the data collected it emerged that birds tend to 'collect' food during the first phase of the day and keep it for the night phase, in order to be more agile during the day and escape any predators and allow themselves to recover energy. and an accumulation of fat during the cold nights.
