Solutions that are most popular
Wild boars, always wild boars, very strongly wild boars.ungulate emergency It's not just a matter of Italy; if you travel a few kilometers from the border, you'll discover that the problem is also acute in Switzerland. After all, with a population of 30 wild animals in the various cantons and the heavy damage to agriculture, there's no reason to be reassured. The solutions that are currently gaining popularity—and which could be replicated in our parts given our geographic proximity—sound a bit strange.
Gunshots and annoying noises
Rather than intensifying culling (which, in any case, will not be abandoned), the Canton of Zurich is increasingly relying on so-called preventative measures, particularly noise and odors. In this area, loudspeaker systems broadcasting gunshots and other sounds intended to scare off wild boars are proving quite successful. At the same time, the use of pungent, acrid-smelling substances, capable of scaring the ungulates away, is considered highly effective.
The total expenditure
According to the Hunting Office, hunting itself can no longer be considered the only effective remedy in this regard, and consequently, there will be a significant financial commitment to promote other measures as well. We're talking about approximately 250 Swiss francs (275 euros, to be precise). Will we soon see the same solutions in Italy? Time will tell.
