A fundamental gathering
The three-day meeting called for the Concaverde by the Technical Director of the Junior National Olympic Trench Team Daniele Di Spigno (in the cover photo). The class assignment on the international platforms of Lonato – characterized by a notable competitive intensity – allowed the coach from Terracina to identify the athletes who will defend the tricolor at the World Championship in Lima (Peru) from September 26 to October 7. In the South American trip for the men's sector, the world and European champion Matteo D'Ambrosi, Luca Gerri, Riccardo Mirabile and Diego Martelli will wear the blue.
Appointment in Cameri
The women's sector will instead see Marika Patera, Sofia Gori, Maria Teresa Maccioni and Giorgia Lenticchia competing in Lima. But since the exams never end, the athletes who have received the designation for the Peruvian World Championship will be back on the platform from 1st to 4th September in the gathering scheduled in the shooting structure of the military airport of Cameri (Novara). Valentina Archetti, Elena Navelli, Valentina Dolci, Elia Di Famiano and Andrea Diana will also participate in the gathering on the Piedmontese platforms of the Air Force, together with Marika Patera, Sofia Gori, Giorgia Lenticchia, Maria Teresa Maccioni, Matteo D'Ambrosi, Luca Gerri, Riccardo Mirabile and Diego Martelli for a test that also looks to the Italian Championship scheduled at the Tav Giorgio Rosatti in Ponso (Padua) on 21st and 22nd September.
Coach Di Spigno's words
"In Cameri - explained Daniele Di Spigno - we will again essentially do quantitative work in the sense that athletes will carry out intense training in terms of the number of clays. Personally, I am very grateful to the Air Force for having made the two-field facility at Cameri Airport available to us because staying exclusively in the facility will allow us to carry out some experiments of great technical utility with the use of the two different schemes that will be set up on the two fields. For example, we will face some series in the early hours of the morning in difficult light conditions and then we will simulate finals and also shoot-offs to allow athletes to carry out useful checks in each segment of the competitions they will face."
