La Piedmont regional council resolved today, on the proposal of the Councilor for Agriculture, Hunting and Fishing of the Piedmont Region, the start date of the wild boar selection hunting for the '8 April 2019 and the end date of March 15, 2020, valid throughout the region. In order to contain the damage caused by wild boars to crops in Piedmont, the start of the selection hunt is anticipated for the first time and important news is maintained the opening of hunting until spring 2020, without interruptions.
Previously, the selection hunt for wild boars was interrupted in the months of January, February and March, a period in which the proliferation of the species increased and consequently the damage increased. The first list of selective collection plans for the species, for the 2019/2010 hunting season, presented by the hunting management institutes (ATC and CA, wildlife hunting companies and hunting farms): to date there are a total of 4418 heads required for killing.
Another novelty introduced is the priority collection, in the critical areas of wild boar presence, of females and young of the species. For this point the hunting management institutes must integrate the plans by 30 April 2019. For the Regional Councilor for Agriculture, the Piedmont Region thus acknowledges the directives expressed by ISPRA and offers a useful tool to Piedmontese farmers who suffer extensive damage caused by wild boars on cultivated land.
Emergencies are faced only with special laws; perhaps in Piedmont this is starting to get into the head of those who have always been against certain measures!
