Coldiretti e Confagricoltura di Oristano they joined forces for a common battle. The two agricultural associations turned to Donatella Spanio, Councilor for the Defense of the Environment, and Antonio Solinas, President of the Environment Commission, to avoid blocking the containment of crows in the Sardinian municipality. What exactly happened? The containment of the birds has already begun and has produced considerable effects, but now there is a risk of a stop in the abatements which could compromise what has been achieved so far.
The hooded crow control plan in Oristano was approved in May 2015 in response to requests from local farmers. It was thought to break down in almost three years 19 thousand crows, of which about two thousand in the Oristano province (600 with the rifle and 1400 with the cages).
Harm reduction is a fact and is due to this initiative, but the plan also has limitations. In particular, doubts have been raised regarding the modalities of the census and the breakdown of the abatement methods (too biased in favor of cages). Coldiretti and Confagricoltura hope that the plan will continue and that there can be a meeting to analyze the actions to be taken in the coming days.
