A delay that could cost you dearly: Coldiretti Oristano she said she was worried about the non-departure of the wildlife containment plan in the Sardinian municipality, with particular reference to crows. As pointed out by the agricultural association, in this part of the island determined animals have altered the balance between the environment and production activities, causing very heavy damage and putting local crops and crops at risk. 2015 did not give great problems from this point of view, given that Sardinia Region, the Province and the Brothers they managed to work together and contain all the animals, despite the increase in their number, with more than appreciable results. 2016, on the other hand, was characterized by a strange and unmotivated immobility.
This is why the Oristano direct farmers have intervened in the last few hours, so as to urge the institutions: it is no coincidence that an open letter has been sent to Donatella Spano, regional councilor for the environment, ea Massimo Torrent, extraordinary commissioner of the Province of Oristano. The current growing season is absolutely not sheltered. Joseph Casu, director of Coldiretti Oristano, hoped for an immediate start of the prevention and containment plan. In addition, the association has asked for the promotion of an urgent meeting to plan everything, through the convocation of the various institutions involved, the bodies of the category and the coadjutors.
In this way they could finally know the times and methods of intervention. Among other things, Coldiretti asked that action not be limited to areas that are considered Sites of Community Interest (SCI) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs). The official note does not forget the figure of the aforementioned coadjutors. Casu has called for their raise, as we are talking about what it is "The only tool that is truly effective in the various territories": in this regard, new training courses are being considered to be activated, as requested also by agricultural operators.
The fact that the chapter on compensation for damage caused by wildlife it was evaluated positively in the financial law, but there is an alarm that should not be underestimated: the economic resources made available will not be sufficient if the containment is not timely and functional. In addition to the crows, agricultural operators must be protected from wild boars, otters and cormorants. Defense actions are possible, but at the moment they are not punctual: Coldiretti Oristano hopes that prevention will not remain just an intention but will turn into something concrete, with specific and targeted interventions.
