Great satisfaction
“It is with great satisfaction that I welcome the news of the positive assessment expressed by the EU inspectors on the management of the emergency in Emilia Romagna, which follows a similar one a few weeks ago regarding Lombardy. It is clear that the policies implemented by Extraordinary Commissioner Filippini, developed in concert with ministerial guidelines, are moving in the right direction. As I had the opportunity to tell him and Undersecretary La Pietra at the meeting a few weeks ago in Massa, hunters have never backed down, and their commitment to the institutions in combating the disease has always been unwavering, even at the cost of sacrifices and limitations that have not affected other categories and which I hope can be overcome without jeopardizing the ultimate goal of eradicating ASF from our territory. I am grateful to the Emilia-Romagna Region for highlighting the level of awareness of the hunters' problem and their contribution to achieving this result, which is so important for the entire country.
Clearer strategy
This was Federcaccia National President Massimo Buconi's comment on the Emilia-Romagna Region's announcement of the results of the audit conducted by inspectors from the European Union's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety commission regarding the management of African swine fever (ASF) in Italy. The audit, which concluded on September 26, according to the Region's press release, "highlighted, thanks to the coordination of the new Commissioner, a national disease control strategy that is significantly clearer and more defined than the findings of the previous audit in 2023."
Meat traceability
The statement continues: "The inspectors appreciated the level of coordination, the hunters' awareness of compliance with regulations, and the system implemented for meat traceability. This result demonstrates the commitment and responsibility throughout the supply chain."
