Hunting: Piedmont, the new hunting calendar valid for the season of hunting 201572016 was defined by the Regional Council; it starts on 4th October 2015 but there are some restrictions.
Today the Piedmont Regional Council approved the contents of the new one Hunting Calendar which will be valid for the next 2015-2016 Hunting Season as proposed by the Councilor for Agriculture, Giorgio Ferrero; the start of the season is scheduled for Sunday 4 October 2015 according to periods and game boxes that vary from species to species. Compared to the calendar of the last season, some restrictions have been introduced regarding huntable species and alpine hunting areas; in particular, for greater protection of "sensitive" species, they cannot be hunted Ptarmigan, Variable hare, Coot and Wigeon which according to the new management document have been included among the NOT huntable species while the Tortora will NOT be hunted in September.
Further changes concern the game bag of migratory species which decreases from 10 to 8 heads and the seasonal one, for Tortora and Quaglia species, from 25 to 20 heads; moreover, the collection of the typical alpine fauna is allowed in only one area chosen by the hunter. Dog training and training periods have also been established, which vary according to the areas and companies involved.
Finally, the selective collection of wild boars can be started from 15 April and the purchase quota for roe deer is liberalized, in order to complete the collection plans and limit damage to crops and road safety problems. Regarding the contents of the new Hunting Calendar, Councilor Ferrero commented, “This is a document in full harmony with the opinion of ISPRA, the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research, so there should be no legal surprises”.
