Hunting: Piedmont, Coordination of Piedmontese Hunting Associations, hunters and farmers looking for agreements.
Hunters and farmers looking for agreements in Piedmont to solve the problems that afflict their worlds; this is the positive result of the meetings held in recent days in Turin, at the highest regional levels of the two categories.
The first to be met, after having accepted the invitation of the Coordination of Piedmontese Hunting Associations, were the managers of Coldiretti who hosted the representatives of the hunters in their headquarters in Piazza San Carlo. The Regional President Delia Revelli and the Director Antonio De Concilio, assisted by the Deputy Director Marco Girò, illustrated to the Coordination the situation of a Piedmontese agricultural world which, despite the current effervescence, has to deal with the effects of a very heavy economic crisis general, to which are added the consequences of damage caused by wildlife, which have become unsustainable also due to a system that regulates compensation in full to be revisited. The new management model will also have to tackle the problem of the exponential growth of classic harmful species and others which, potentially, can become even more so and in the short term.
Hunting, which requires a regional law in a short time, can do a lot to solve this problem, starting from those structures institutionally delegated to manage the hunting activity on the territory, and where hunters and farmers sit jointly and with an equal number. of members: ATCs and CAs. In the same way, prevention and control activities must be encouraged and strengthened; the proposals of the hunting associations will be summarized by them in a document that Coldiretti will examine with particular attention. Among them, the proposal aimed at allocating an adequate part of the current regional tax paid by each hunter to areas and sectors should be explored; a new way of managing these resources could allow the management bodies to provide for a faster reimbursement of the damages suffered by farmers, avoiding intolerable delays. The meeting ended in a climate of renewed harmony, with the commitment of both to continue on a shared path of priority protection of agriculture, which can also be pursued through more constant contact and joint study of the numerous problems.
Equally significant and positive is the comparison with the other two important national agricultural associations, Confagricoltura and CIA (Italian Farmers Confederation), united in Agrinsieme coordination. The Regional Vice President of Confagricoltura, Luca Brondelli di Brondello, and the Regional President of the CIA, Lodovico Actis Perinetto, accompanied by the Vice President Gabriele Carenini and the Regional Director Giovanni Cardone, received the Hunting Associations in the offices of Corso Vittorio Emanuele; Also present at the meeting were the Regional Area Manager of Confagricoltura Filippo Bianchi and the Deputy Director of the CIA of Alessandria Giuseppe Botto.
Here, too, attention has been focused on the damage problem. Wild boars, roe deer, corvids, but also non-huntable species such as dormice, otters and finally wolves, are creating serious problems for agricultural and zootechnical activities and therefore adequate measures must be taken, with the willingness of the hunting world to collaborate through hunting or appropriate actions. control. It was also noted the interest in that the reparations arrive promptly and safely, inviting the hunting world to take an active part in the bodies in charge so that suitable solutions are found.
The territory must be safeguarded, enhanced, with environmental restoration actions that benefit the return of small game, creating a better fauna balance than the ungulate fauna. The proposal of the hunting world of a wide-ranging collaboration was welcomed, starting with the possibility of becoming promoters at ATC and CA so that the anticipation of hunting for hooded crow, magpie and jay is requested, meeting the requests, finalized to the reduction of damages, of the agricultural world. It could be the beginning of a new season of collaboration between farmers and hunters in defense of the territory.
