The Piedmont regional offices of Federcaccia, Enalcaccia, Game Producers Authority e Free Hunt they wrote to Giorgio Ferrero, regional councilor for agriculture. The letter refers to the recent prohibitions imposed on hunting following the forest fires. The climatic conditions have in fact changed and the rains have affected Piedmont, as well as other Italian regions.
For this reason, the associations have asked for the revocation of the suspension of hunting in the Alpine Areas and in the Territorial Areas of Hunting del Torinese and Cuneo area. The ban, among other things, has been decided without adequate scientific support, damaging many innocent hunters, right in the middle of the hunting season. The Contractors and the ATCs, then, risk returning the sums paid by the members for the admission quotas and the assigned items.
The suspension may not meet the objectives of the ungulate harvesting plans. Precipitation averted the danger of new fires, consequently the four associations believe that there are no conditions to keep the hunters blocked. Any other blocking period could compromise the current season by violating the right to hunt guaranteed by law. Now an answer is awaited, possibly quickly, by the councilor himself.
